Wat next?

Hi!

After taking laziness to a whole new level on the slow boat that brought us to Luang Prabang, I felt that it may be a serious risk to my health to get back to our normal level of travel-activity too fast, so I took my time and tried to inhale the spirit of this wonderful city situated at the confluence of the Mekong and the Nam Khan river.

It is not just the sheer endless number of Wats (whose beauty finally helped me overcome my Wat-craze-trauma inflicted by Peter in Hanoi ;), it is also the pictoresque night market, the cautiously reserved but nevertheless open-minded and curious monks and the variety of local and colonialistic food in the streets around the holy mountain with its prominent stupa that gives you the almost intimidating impression of being a guest in an old, sacred and almost pristine monastery.

So while the other two didn't want to miss out on the plain of jars I stayed in the Laotian secret capital and enjoyed the company of Sam and Jures for a few hours more, indulging myself in idleness and recharging my batteries for the efforts that still were to come the next days and weeks...
